Connors will 'fight for more local aid to schools'

CUMBERLAND - Sen. Daniel P. Connors, Democrat incumbent in District 19, said in a press release, "In standing for re-election, I'm campaigning on my record on the issues and my record of fighting for change. Education is the foundation of today's knowledge-based economy. I look forward to continuing working to make education more accessible and more affordable."

Connors said, "My record on education is clear. I've supported expanding after school programs, creating opportunities in higher education, and securing increased state support for public schools in Cumberland and Lincoln.

"As chair-elect of the New England Board of Higher Education, I'm involved with College Ready New England, a program that helps students be better prepared for college, and the Regional Student Program, a collaboration with other New England states that increases Rhode Islanders' access to majors not offered at public colleges and universities in Rhode Island."

Connors said, "As a graduate of Cumberland High School, Providence College, and Roger Williams University School of Law, I know first hand that education is both important and expensive. I will continue fighting for more local aid for our schools, and continue working to make higher education more accessible and more affordable."
