Providing the highest quality education is the key to a stable and prosperous future for our state.  My work on expanding after school programs, creating opportunities in higher education, and securing increased state support for Cumberland and Lincoln public schools has helped steer us on this course.  As a graduate of Cumberland High School, Providence College, and Roger Williams University School of Law, I know the importance of a good education in today’s economy and am committed to helping every student achieve this important goal.

safety

Building and preserving strong communities has been one of my main focuses since serving on the local zoning board.  More recently, I have continued this focus by strengthening community notification when convicted sex offenders are released from prison, supporting community service organizations, and voting NO on 24-hour gambling.  I will continue to support strong communities for the residents of Cumberland and Lincoln.

Better Government

I believe that we are all best served by an open and accountable governemt.  By passing legislation to ensure state leases are opened to public scruity, we have taken a substantial step towards protecting the state from the potentially corruptive practices that a secretive system allows.  In addition, I’m fighting to establish a more representatrive approach to presidential elections by working to institute a plan which will eventually guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who recieves the most popular votes in all 50 states.

Fiscally responsible government is a basic tenent of sound public policy.  I have continued my committment to open and sound financial policies by holding the line on our state’s income tax, capping municipal property taxes, and fighting for the continued phase out of other taxes such as the auto excise tax.  During these these tough economic times I will continue to work diligently to protect the citizens of Rhode Island from any unecessary tax burdens.
